The Nationalist Party is pushing for a three-reading amendment to the current Act Governing the Recall of Public Servants by focusing on the issue of a low recall threshold. Under the leadership of the Nationalist Party caucus, the Legislative Yuan's Internal Affairs Committee has scheduled a public hearing for next Wednesday and plans to immediately review the amendment proposed by party member Hsu Yu-Chen clause by clause next Thursday, aiming to complete the committee review before the recess. The amendment aims to make the recall threshold more reasonable, not specifically tailored for ongoing recall cases like Keelung Mayor Hsu Guo-Liang's. The amendment proposes that the approval votes for recalls must 'exceed the number of votes obtained by the recalled individual in the election' for the recall to pass, addressing criticisms of the current recall system's low threshold.
