Nationalist Party Caucus Calls for Recusal of 7 Justices 'Overly Aligned with Green Camp' in Constitutional Reform Case

Reported 12 months ago

Following the failed reconsideration of parliamentary reform, the Democratic Progressive Party government made four constitutional interpretations. The Kuomintang caucus named Chief Justice Hsu Tsung-li and Justices Hsu Chih-hsiung, Lu Tai-lang, Huang Jui-ming, Tsai Tsung-chen, Chu Fu-mei, and Yu Po-hsiang, citing close ties with the DPP, and called for their recusal. They criticized the unprecedented move and accused it of violating constitutional provisions, alleging a biased judiciary. The KMT caucus argued that the involved justices had previous affiliations with the DPP and questioned their ability to deliver fair judgments, urging them to recuse themselves for impartiality in the constitutional case.
