Nationalist Party Holds 'Parliamentary Reform' Seminar in Tainan, Shocked to Find 'Cross-Strait Peace Public Referendum Sign-up' Booth; Speaker Xie Longjie: Unrelated to Party Headquarters

Reported about 1 year ago

During the Nationalist Party's 'Parliamentary Reform' seminar in Tainan on June 15, a booth for signing up for a cross-strait peace agreement public referendum unexpectedly appeared. This led to criticism from Democratic Progressive Party lawmaker Guo Kuo-wen, who claimed the seminar was akin to a Chinese Communist Party United Front propaganda event. However, Nationalist Party Tainan City branch chairman Xie Longjie clarified that the booth's presence was spontaneous and unrelated to the party. The referendum proposal sought approval for the establishment of a bipartisan national affairs meeting within three months after the public announcement of the referendum, aiming for peaceful negotiations with the mainland to prevent harm to people's lives and property.
