On June 24, 2024, DPP legislator Wu Pei-yi accused KMT legislator Hung Meng-Kai of requesting secret information from TSMC during an Education Committee meeting, which was rejected on the spot by the National Science Council. Hung Meng-Kai refuted the accusations, labeling them as smears, and announced he would sue Wu Pei-yi. Wu Pei-yi welcomed the lawsuit and awaits court validation. Hung Meng-Kai emphasized that he never sought any confidential information and finds Wu Pei-yi's claims completely misleading. Wu Pei-yi responded by repeating the allegations and pointing out instances of Hung Meng-Kai's questionable interrogation tactics, prompting him to threaten legal action. The dispute revolves around inquiries related to TSMC, semiconductor factory equipment recovery rates, and requests for sensitive data from the National Science Council.
