Nationalist Party Legislator: Too-Low Recall Threshold Turns it into a Tool for those 'Unable to Accept Defeat'

Reported 9 months ago

Nationalist Party legislator Hsu Yu-zhen believes that the recall threshold is too low and the signature process is too loose, turning recalls into a tool for those 'unable to accept defeat'. The Nationalist Party caucus plans to introduce an amendment to the Recall and Impeachment Act in the Internal Affairs Committee next week to raise the recall threshold, sparking backlash from the Green Camp. Hsu pointed out that the current low threshold has led to 'encouraging recalls' instead of accountability, destabilizing the democratic system and causing continuous disturbances in society, hindering national unity.
