Nationalist Party to Participate in Cross-Strait Forum on 15th; MAC Urges Not to Cooperate with United Front; Lien Chan's Delegation Attending

Reported 7 months ago

The Cross-Strait Forum, organized by the Chinese Communist Party, is set to take place in Fujian on the 15th, having invited representatives from various Taiwanese political parties, organizing bodies, industry, and civic groups. The Mainland Affairs Council warns against participation, labeling the forum as a United Front platform and discouraging attendance by central government officials and local authorities to avoid aiding the CCP in manipulating its Taiwan agenda. Despite this, Nationalist Party Chairman Johnny Chiang expressed support for Vice Chairman Lien Sheng-wen leading a delegation to engage in dialogue to resolve misunderstandings and issues. Chiang reiterated the party's commitment to cross-strait exchanges for peace and public welfare, hoping for a successful and constructive outcome from Lien's delegation at the forum, which will also see the participation of Nationalist Party youth legislators and Yunlin County Magistrate Chang Li-shan.
