NATO Summit in Washington D.C. Focuses on Long-term Aid to Ukraine

The 75th NATO Summit opened in Washington D.C. on July 9, 2024, with a focus on providing long-term security assistance to Ukraine amid the uncertain prospects of the Ukraine-Russia conflict. The summit aims to expand aid to Ukraine to help strengthen their multi-layered air defense system, increase ammunition production capacity, and enhance defense against Russian aggression. Leaders are expected to approve a new plan to deliver weapons and provide long-term training programs to bolster Ukraine's defense capabilities. Japan's Prime Minister will also attend and sign a new agreement to enhance cybersecurity and combat misinformation and cyber threats. NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg expects the summit to result in a new agreement to expand the provision of air defense systems and ammunition to Ukraine.
