On June 14, 2024, the Youth Daily reported that the NATO Helicopter Management Agency (NAHEMA) signed a contract with NHI to officially begin a phased upgrade program for the NH90 multi-role helicopter used by multiple countries, in order to strengthen its combat capabilities for future battlefield needs. NHI will upgrade both the maritime version (NFH) and the tactical transport helicopter (TTH) to the Block 1 version, followed by research and testing to enhance capabilities and extend service life. The upgrades include new communication systems, the integration of NATO's latest Link 22 data link, advanced enemy identification systems, diverse satellite navigation, and new flight control software to optimize mission efficiency.
