Navy Denies Disbanding 'Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit' Despite Concerns from US Military Advisors

Reported about 1 year ago

The Navy Marine Corps amphibious reconnaissance battalion's underwater explosive ordnance disposal unit is reportedly going to be disbanded due to internal disputes and unfair treatment, with its personnel likely to be combined into the reconnaissance unit. This has raised concerns among US military advisors and sparked anger among veterans across the country, who are planning protests. However, DPP legislator Wang Ting-yu quickly refuted these claims after consulting with Navy Chief of Staff, stating that there is no such plan. The Ministry of National Defense also privately denied any disbandment. The reorganization plan is still under consideration and is deemed sensitive and confidential. Wang emphasized the importance of the explosive ordnance disposal unit to Taiwan's defense and reassured that there are no plans for its disbandment according to his inquiries.
