A Navy soldier on the Ming Chuan ship in Taiwan jumped off the deck while the ship left Keelung Harbor, swam to shore, and sought help from a nearby shipbuilding company, but was found by authorities and safely hospitalized. The soldier cited not being able to adapt to life on the ship and not wanting to serve in the military as reasons for his actions. The Navy responded by establishing an emergency center and conducting investigations into the incident.
