Three days after the Paris Olympics on June 9, 2024, Jayson Tatum and Jrue Holiday are the only remaining US men's basketball representatives in the playoffs. Among the 12 selected players, only these two Celtics players have survived as their respective teams have been eliminated. Notably, first-time national team player Stephen Curry of the Warriors was eliminated in the play-in games, while first-timers Kawhi Leonard, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Haliburton, and Anthony Edwards have also exited early. Icons like LeBron James and Kevin Durant were also sent packing in the first round. The American basketball roster appears to be doomed, but Tatum and Holiday are still in the fight in the playoffs, despite the Mavericks taking the lead after the first game.
