NCAA reached $2.77 billion settlement with college athletes

Reported 5 months ago

The NCAA has settled in a federal antitrust lawsuit, agreeing to pay $2.77 billion in damages over the next decade to Division I college athletes dating back to 2016. This landmark agreement opens the door for college athletes to be paid directly for the first time, with about 14,000 athlete claims since 2016. Additionally, the NCAA and Power Five schools have agreed in principle to a revenue-sharing plan, allowing each school to pay their athletes from an average of about $100 million revenue streams. Approval by the judge is pending, with revenue sharing expected to start in fall 2025.
