Nepal Landslides Kill Nine, Including Family of Five Buried in Their Sleep

At least nine people, including three children, were killed in a landslide caused by heavy rains in the mountainous areas west of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. The family of five from Marika village in Gulmi district was tragically buried alive while they were sleeping. Since the start of the monsoon season in mid-June, at least 35 people in Nepal have died due to landslides, floods, and lightning strikes, with the rainy season expected to continue until mid-September. Climate change has exacerbated natural disasters like landslides and floods in Nepal, highlighting the urgent need for disaster preparedness and resilience strategies in the country.
