A dairy cow in the United States was infected with avian influenza H5N1, leading to human infection with symptoms of conjunctivitis. Taiwan's Centers for Disease Control revised the definition for reporting new type A influenza to include acute respiratory infections or acute conjunctivitis with a history of contact with avian influenza A (H5N1) outbreaks in animals, effective from June 15. This revision comes amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, with a call from officials for proactive vaccination and epidemic prevention measures.
