On July 3, Japan officially issued a new edition of paper banknotes, including 10,000, 5,000, and 1,000 yen denominations. Taiwanese banks like Mega International Commercial Bank and Bank of Taiwan have different plans regarding acquiring the new Japanese yen banknotes. Mega Bank aims to acquire them as early as next week, while Bank of Taiwan stated that it depends on the release by the Bank of Japan and the situation of their foreign cash suppliers, with no clear timeline yet. The current Japanese yen banknotes will still be valid after the new edition is released.
