New Hsinchu Baseball Field Soil Scandal: 7 Bags of Soil Left in Office Instead of Being Sent for Testing in the US, Mayor Ko Hong-an Blasted for Deception

Reported 7 months ago

On June 12, 2024, reporter Wu Boxuan from SET News revealed that Hsinchu City government was caught not sending soil to the US for testing as promised when they dug up the new baseball field. Instead, the soil samples were found left unprocessed in the Han Studio's office. During a session on June 11, City Councilor Liu Kang-yan accused Mayor Ko Hong-an of lying about the situation, as the mayor shifted blame to the contractor for failing to send the soil for testing, causing an uproar. The incident unfolded amidst ongoing controversy over the Hsinchu baseball field, where the samples from 7 bags of soil collected in May of the previous year were found neglected in a local business office.
