At a recent city council meeting, Hsinchu City Mayor Kao Hung-an responded to inquiries about the soil samples taken at the baseball field on May 31st, clarifying that the soil excavated on that day was not sent for testing in the United States as previously claimed. The city government had promised to send the samples for testing last year, but it was later revealed that only verbal explanations from the vendor were obtained, and subsequent tests conducted in July showed similar results. The issue of the soil testing has sparked renewed interest following recent inquiries by city council members. Kao also addressed delays in the field's renovation project, stating that if there are no further hindrances from the subcontractor, the project is expected to be completed by April next year.
