New Hsinchu City Councilor Liu Kang-yan of the Democratic Progressive Party revealed internal dialogue within the city government accusing Gao Hong'an of lying about the Hsinchu baseball field soil sampling controversy, stating that the soil samples taken in late May of last year were not sent to the United States for testing. This has led to demands for a public apology from Gao and repercussions for the Director of the Public Works Department, Chen Ming-zheng, who admitted that the soil was never sent for testing.
