As garbage issues persist in New Hsinchu, with frequent self-ignited fires at the Singfeng landfill site, and the upcoming incinerator set to start trial burning by the end of this year with a daily capacity of 500 tons, residents such as Zhubei City's Shangyi Village Chief Zeng Fu have yet to receive promised annual health check subsidies. Concerns remain over pollution, dust, and insect infestations. Despite hopes for development spurred by reinvestment in the area, concerns over environmental impact persist as officials work towards better waste management strategies including bans on disposable plastic cups and reduction in plastic product use annually.
