New Insurance Regulations to Impact Public Interest as 4 Major Changes Take Effect in July

Reported 8 months ago

Starting July, four new insurance regulations will be implemented in Taiwan, including requiring medical insurance to pay out the actual medical expenses, distinguishing between disability caused by accidents or diseases for disability insurance claims, restricting the advertisement of high dividends in policies, and decreasing the rates for accidental death and disability coverage in travel insurance by 10%. The Financial Supervisory Commission has agreed to provide a buffer period for insurers to comply with the new regulations, in order to safeguard public interests and mitigate any immediate impact on policyholders.
