According to Yahoo Japan, effective June 10, 2024, under Japan's revised Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act from last year, the government can now forcibly deport individuals whose refugee applications have been rejected three times, unless there are 'valid reasons.' Concerns have been raised regarding the safety of refugees' lives under the new regulation, which introduces monitoring measures for those facing deportation after multiple rejections. The amendments aim to address the increase in people refusing deportation notices, reaching 4,233 at the end of 2022, leading to the need for legal revisions.
