Reported about 1 year ago

The Ministry of the Interior in Taiwan passed the new standardized lease contract on July 4, 2024, with the new regulations for electricity fees in rental properties. Landlords who violate the rules by overcharging electricity fees can face penalties ranging from 30,000 to 500,000 TWD, along with the possibility of multiple fines. The aim is to ensure fair and transparent electricity billing for tenants, with the new regulations set to take effect on July 15. The updated contract specifies that landlords cannot charge more than the current average electricity price per kilowatt-hour or total electricity bill period. The new system also prohibits landlords from charging additional fees for public facility electricity not included in the rental fees.
