According to a report by CTnews.com on June 24, 2024, the chairman of the New Taipei Kings basketball team, Wang Wenxiang, and CEO Chen Xinsheng, recently announced the establishment of the Taiwan Basketball League's 'New Alliance' (tentative name). Representatives of nine teams that have submitted letters of intent convened the first preparatory meeting today. The progress of forming the new league has garnered attention, and four teams have been selected from the two major leagues to form the 'Executive Preparatory Committee'. The new season is set to begin in November to accommodate the expansion of teams, while ensuring the smooth arrangement of the league system without affecting the schedules of the existing leagues. The nine teams also expressed gratitude to the chairman of the New Taipei Kings for his support and prompt action in organizing the establishment of the new alliance.
