On June 27, 2024, New Taipei added 27 technological enforcement sites, focusing on high-risk intersections prone to accidents and violations. These sites utilize AI technology for image analysis to automatically identify violations. The enforcement is scheduled to commence on July 1st with plans to announce an additional 35 locations by the end of October. Violations targeted include failure to yield to pedestrians, driving on sidewalks, running red lights, disregarding traffic signs, driving large trucks in restricted areas, illegal parking, and not keeping intersections clear. The initiative aims to improve traffic safety and order, particularly targeting the safety of pedestrians. Violators could face fines and penalties, emphasizing the importance of abiding by traffic rules and respecting the rights of pedestrians for a safer road environment in New Taipei.
