The 14th New Taipei City Council Chairman's Cup Dragon Boat Championship began with an opening ceremony officiated by Mayor Hou You-yi and Chairman Jiang Gen-huang at the New Taipei City Bitan Canal. A total of 98 teams with 2,100 participants are vying for the championship and a prize of 2.45 million NT dollars. This year's event includes a creative team cheer competition, traditional Dragon Boat races, various activities for the Dragon Boat Festival, and online live streaming services to allow the public to celebrate the festival in diverse ways. Participants from 27 countries, including the US, Malaysia, and Japan, are competing, creating a lively international event.
