On July 7, 2024, in New Taipei City, hundreds of dead fish were found floating in Dahan River, under Fuzhou Bridge, by local residents. The New Taipei Environmental Protection Bureau investigated and estimated around 200 to 300 dead fish. Water quality tests showed no acute toxic reactions but suggested that the fish died due to insufficient oxygen in the water caused by high temperatures. The bureau has notified the relevant authorities for cleanup and will continue monitoring for pollution in the area.
