New Taipei City Participates in ICLEI World Congress in Brazil, Discussing Environmental Sustainability

On June 21, 2024, at 9:25 am, the Local Governments for Sustainability Council convened in Brazil, with New Taipei City Vice Mayor Liu Ho-jan attending as the East Asia Regional Executive Committee member, sharing experiences on climate action and enhancing urban resilience with other city leaders. New Taipei City showcased upgrading green parks to create flood detention spaces, such as the Shouder Park in Zhonghe District, accommodating up to 12,340 tons of floodwater. Vice Mayor Liu signed the '2024-2030 São Paulo Action Strategy,' representing Taiwan and shared the climate adaptation and net zero resilience experiences of 'Sustainable New Taipei' with cities at the ICLEI World Congress in São Paulo. New Taipei City's ongoing contributions include climate change mitigation and adaptation, coal phase-out, resilience, and low-carbon cities, willing to share successful experiences with ICLEI member cities.
