On June 11, 2024, in New Taipei City's Zhonghe District, a 51-year-old woman named Chen had a heated argument with her 51-year-old boyfriend Xiao, leading her to falsely report to the police that he was holding a gun in their home. The police arrived in force only to find out it was a dramatic lie, and Chen was later brought in for questioning and potential legal action under the Social Order Maintenance Law. Xiao explained that Chen, upset after their argument, likely made the false report due to fluctuating emotions from recent health issues.
