A 27-year-old man surnamed Kang from New Taipei City was abducted on June 14 in a bar in Banqiao district after owing 1.5 million NT in gambling debts, and was rescued by police in 3 hours after being taken to a building in Xinzhuang district by his creditor and four others. Five suspects, including the creditor Yang, were arrested and charged with offenses such as restricting personal freedom and intimidation. Police urge the public to seek proper avenues to resolve disputes rather than resorting to violence.
