New Taipei Man Scammed 60,000 NT by Sizzling Hot Woman, Falls Victim to Financial Card Fraud

Reported about 1 year ago

A 58-year-old man surnamed Gao from New Taipei was swindled by a sexy woman named 'Sun Yilin' he met online, who claimed to be a 'beautiful witch.' Gao, charmed by her appearance, was duped into believing he had won 60,000 NT in a 'National Health Insurance Public Welfare Fund lucky draw,' and handed over his financial card. The fraud was later caught by the police, and Gao only realized he had been deceived when summoned by the authorities. The police discovered another accomplice, a 17-year-old surnamed Kang, with a financial card and 70,000 NT in illicit gains. The case was transferred to the New Taipei District Prosecutor's Office for investigation on charges of money laundering and fraud. Authorities warn against the increasing trend of online romance scams, urging the public to be cautious and report any related incidents to the anti-fraud consultation hotline.
