New Taipei's Blue Camp Yielding to Yellow? Huang Kuo-chang: Integration Depends on Ko Wen-je

Reported 10 months ago

Taipei City Councillor Li Ming-xian revealed that Huang Kuo-chang of the People First Party had inquired if the Kuomintang (KMT) would yield to him to run for New Taipei City Mayor in 2026; however, Huang denied this claim. The possibility of Huang representing the Yellow Camp in the mayoral elections depends on decisions from the People First Party Chairman Ko Wen-je and the party internally. With the People First Party's plan for non-constituency legislators to serve a two-year term and potentially resign after two years, rumors suggest Huang is actively positioning himself for the New Taipei City mayoral race, which may require the KMT's concession first. Huang emphasized that the decision for integration relies on Ko Wen-je and the party's internal consensus.
