According to the latest comprehensive income tax statistics released by the Ministry of Finance, as of June 30, 2024, four out of the top five richest villages in Taiwan for the year 111 are located in Hsinchu County and City, with Guanshin Village in Eastern District of Hsinchu City ranking first. The average total comprehensive income in the village has soared to NT$4.611 million, with a median income of NT$3.543 million. Village chief Huang Yaqing attributed the rise in income to the thriving tech industry amid the pandemic and the AI boom. Residents are described as living modestly, with most driving only Tesla or BMW cars and showing a preference for electric vehicles like Tesla and Gogoro.
