A new pipeline, the Matterhorn Express, has begun operations in Texas, easing natural gas bottlenecks that had caused local prices to plummet. This 580-mile pipeline will enable increased shale gas production, allowing Texas oil producers to benefit from higher gas prices and improve crude production by reducing flaring. The pipeline can carry 2.5 billion cubic feet of gas per day and is expected to significantly increase output in the Permian basin. However, market analysts warn that demand may soon surpass supply capacity, necessitating further pipeline developments.
