New Traffic Regulations Spark Controversy Amongst Netizens in Taiwan

Reported 9 months ago

Following the revision of Taiwan's Road Traffic Management Penalty Regulations, certain minor traffic violations can now only be reported within a limited time frame, causing heated discussions online. While some welcome the changes as a relief from potential fines, others express concerns over the impact on traffic safety and enforcement efficiency. The revised regulations allow for the reporting of five specific violations, such as not wearing a helmet or parking in disabled spaces, but eight other violations cannot be reported. Point penalties will only be issued by the police on the spot, and repeat offenses may lead to license suspension. The new regulations aim to balance road safety with the livelihoods of professional drivers.
