New York City is planning to construct 46 new public restrooms and renovate 36 existing ones in city parks over the next five years, in addition to the roughly 1,000 facilities already available. Mayor Eric Adams introduced a new initiative called 'Ur in Luck' that includes a Google Maps layer to help people easily find all public restrooms operated by government agencies and civic institutions. The effort aims to address the lack of public restrooms in a city where more than half of households don't own cars and many tourists explore on foot or by subway.
