New York Governor Kathy Hochul has directed the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to indefinitely pause the congestion pricing planned for drivers heading to Manhattan below 60th Street. This decision aims to alleviate financial burdens on working and middle-class families and comes following a lawsuit by the Trucking Association of New York. The congestion fees, originally set to start on June 30, would have varied based on vehicle type and time of day, with trucks and buses facing tolls of $24 to $36, motorcycles $7.50, and passenger vehicles $15 during peak hours. The pause was met with approval from various leaders and stakeholders.
