New York Governor Urges Quick Resolution to Avoid Port Strike

Reported 7 days ago

New York Governor Kathy Hochul has called for a timely agreement between dockworkers and their employers to avert a potential strike that could impact supply chains, particularly for critical goods like medical supplies. With the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) threatening to strike if negotiations with the U.S. Maritime Alliance (USMX) fail by midnight, Hochul emphasized the importance of reaching a consensus to prevent disruptions at East Coast ports, which have not seen a strike of this magnitude since 1977. She reassured the public that essential goods should remain available, unlike during the pandemic.
