With the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) threatening to strike if negotiations with the U.S. Maritime Alliance (USMX) fail by midnight, Hochul emphasized the importance of reaching a consensus to prevent disruptions at East Coast ports, which have not seen a strike of this magnitude since 1977. She reassured the public that essential goods should remain available, unlike during the pandemic.
