New Zealand officials have announced that the bird flu outbreak, which was contained to a single site in Otago, is estimated to be nearing its end. Following extensive testing, farms linked to the outbreak have tested negative for the virus. Exports of poultry products had been temporarily halted due to the initial detection of the highly pathogenic H7N6 strain, but with ongoing testing proving effective, confidence in resuming trade is increasing.
