News Flash/Vietnam 'Instant Vegetarian Noodles' Found with Excessive Preservatives! 585 Kilograms to be Returned or Destroyed

Taiwan's Food and Drug Administration announced on July 1st, 2024, that a batch of imported 'Instant Vegetarian Noodles' from Vietnam was found with benzoic acid residue exceeding the limits. A total of 585 kilograms will be either returned or destroyed, in accordance with regulations. This incident is part of 14 items, including products from South Korea, the United States, Paraguay, Indonesia, Panama, and Mainland China, found to have discrepancies during border inspections. The noodles imported from Vietnam by 'Jie Sheng Co., Ltd.' were detected with benzoic acid at 0.03 g/kg, failing to meet food safety standards. Additionally, a batch of 'Hershey Foods Enterprise Co., Ltd.' imported 'Spicy Honey Smoked Sauce' from the United States had pesticide ethylene oxide residue of 0.1 mg/kg, leading to 229 kilograms being slated for return or destruction.
