Despite stressing the importance of separation of powers, Control Yuan made a serious plea for constitutional review to defend its oversight authority, claiming it was infringed upon by the Legislative Yuan. This move exposes contradiction in values and numerous legal loopholes, as traditionally, investigative power should belong to the parliament. With the Control Yuan no longer being part of the parliament post constitutional amendments, the focus on enhancing the Legislative Yuan's investigative powers through parliamentary reform seems logical. The Control Yuan's ineffectiveness in addressing public concerns and its lack of teeth have led to loss of credibility, making its recent pursuit of a constitutional review, joining the constitutional review team, seem more like a misguided political maneuver rather than a genuine effort towards upholding the constitution.
