In June 30, 2024, the Seventh Branch of the Police Department raided numerous tea shops selling mixed Vietnamese tea as Taiwanese tea, causing these illicit businesses to temporarily disappear. Despite the crackdown, complaints have recently surfaced indicating a resurgence of mixed teas in the market, even involving the previously convicted 'Chaoji Papa' from the live broadcast world, along with another shop, '4 Not 4 Miss,' known for cultivating internet celebrities. Calls have been made for the government to strengthen awareness and enforcement to prevent the depletion of Taiwan's tea industry by cheap Vietnamese teas. Collaborative efforts by the Executive Yuan's Food Safety Office and the prosecution, alongside the Department of Health's Food and Drug Administration, and the Department of Agriculture's Agricultural and Food Agency, have led to the exposure and prosecution of 15 illicit operators posing as Taiwanese high-priced tea sellers. While the legal crackdowns have had some effect, recent complaints suggest a resurgence of deceptive practices by unscrupulous tea merchants.
