A 58-year-old man, Mr. Lin, experienced frequent nighttime urination, disrupting his sleep and affecting his daytime functionality. After consulting with Dr. Lee Ya-che, a urologist at Chiayi Christian Hospital, it was discovered that Mr. Lin's diet and excessive water intake after dinner were contributing to the issue. Dr. Lee recommended a lighter diet, reducing water intake before bedtime, and provided medication, resulting in a significant reduction in nighttime urination frequency from 6-7 times to 1-2 times, greatly improving sleep quality and overall lifestyle. Dr. Lee also emphasized the importance of adjusting lifestyle habits to prevent nighttime urination and reduce the risk of chronic diseases and accidents, especially for the elderly. Recommendations include reducing water intake before sleep, establishing a habit of urinating before bed, avoiding stimulating foods and drinks, maintaining a comfortable sleep environment, and engaging in moderate exercises to strengthen muscles for better urine control.
