Nissan and Honda Join Forces to Advance Electric Vehicles

Reported about 1 year ago

Japanese automakers Nissan and Honda are collaborating to enhance their presence in the global electric vehicle (EV) market by working on electric vehicle battery projects and considering the standardization of software technology for cost reduction and faster development of new features. The alliance also involves joint development of automotive operating systems and software to improve vehicle functions and enable continuous evolution through updates. The cooperation extends to strengthening charging infrastructure to enhance competitiveness in the EV industry, as Japan aims to catch up with leading countries in the EV sector. The collaboration between Nissan and Honda, announced in March, aims to cover six major areas, with a broader initiative by the Japanese government to promote digital transformation in the automotive sector by rallying car manufacturers like Toyota towards developing software-defined vehicles (SDV) to achieve a global sales target of 12 million vehicles by 2030.
