At the NMFTA's recent meeting in Austin, COO Joe Ohr highlighted the successful implementation of a major overhaul in freight classification, which took effect on July 19. Despite concerns about shippers' preparedness for the roughly 6,000 changes, feedback indicated they were better informed than anticipated. The focus of the changes aimed at simplifying classifications through density measurements, and shippers demonstrated high engagement with new tools and webinars provided by NMFTA. Although FedEx Freight announced a grace period for adoption, overall transitions have been smooth, marking a significant achievement in freight management.
