The Air Force decided to stop salvaging the Mirage 2000 fighter jet (with aircraft number 2041) that crashed off the coast of Taitung two years ago due to the high costs involved and the difficulty faced by companies willing to take on the task. The aircraft was carrying missiles and piloted by Colonel Huang Kaizhong when it crashed, leading to unsuccessful salvage attempts in the past two years. The corroded state of the jet and its weaponry, as well as the challenging conditions of the operation, led the Air Force to conclude that retrieving the jet offered no practical benefits, prompting them to abandon the salvage efforts.
