No Hungry Kids This Summer! Taoyuan City Education Bureau Provides Lunch for Underprivileged Students

Reported 12 months ago

As summer vacation approaches, Taoyuan City Education Bureau continues its initiative to provide lunch for economically disadvantaged students from low-income families, middle-to-low-income families, families facing financial difficulties, and those experiencing sudden family changes. During the summer break, schools collaborate with nearby cafes or convenience stores to offer daily lunches. Students can exchange meal vouchers for a set meal or an equivalent lunch. Store owner Mr. Wu, who has been in business for over 25 years, generously provides nutritious meals at a 50% discount to support these students, ensuring they have access to warm meals during the holidays. The Bureau urges donations to their 'Unable to Pay for Lunch Fund' to assist 4,291 students this summer, with a total subsidy of NT$15.44 million. They also thank the 215 schools and businesses in Taoyuan for their support in ensuring that financially challenged children receive meals during the summer break.
