Rig Karkhanis, head of global markets at Nomura Holdings Inc., is moving back to Singapore after a short stint in London revamping the business. Karkhanis, along with the unit’s Chief Operating Officer, Aleem Jivraj, were promoted to their current roles in March last year. Under Karkhanis’ leadership, the global markets division added over 400 people last year, aiming for 20% revenue gains for the unit over the next few years. Various key hires were made in the past year to strengthen the markets business. In Asia outside Japan, the division also hired over 20 staff to expand its equity derivatives, flow, and structured financing businesses.
