Nordic retail brokerages like Avanza and Nordnet in Sweden are breaking tradition by allowing clients to vote at Tesla's annual general meeting (AGM) after an increased interest from investors and online comments from CEO Elon Musk. The June 13 AGM is becoming a referendum on Musk's leadership, particularly regarding his invalidated $56 billion pay package. Tesla is now seeking support from retail investors, who make up 48% of ownership, as a considerable number of institutional shareholders are voting against Musk's pay. Avanza and Nordnet, with nearly 150,000 Tesla shareholders, made the decision to allow voting following customer requests, influenced by Musk's desire for shareholders to voice their opinions.
