Recently, North Korean citizens have been forced to submit 10 kilograms of feces, with a penalty for insufficient quantity, due to a shortage of fertilizer. Kim Jong-un issued a directive demanding each household to submit human waste, which would be dried and used as fertilizer in farming. This new order has caused complaints among residents as it is unusual to collect feces during the summer, resulting in unpleasant odors and insect problems. Many impoverished farmers are facing difficulties meeting this requirement and are criticizing it as an informal form of taxation.
