As part of the construction of the Binjiang Water Resources Recycling Center, nearby homes and auto repair shops in Binjiang Street were expropriated. Started by former Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je's plan, currently being executed under the administration of Jiang Wan-an, the project was met with resistance from residents who feel unfairly forced out of their homes for landscaping and parking purposes, questioning the necessity of expropriation. This has led to legal action by 20 households against the Taipei City Government's actions.
